A portion of Bijou Street was closed for about five hours Sunday after a driver struck several parked cars, sending all occupants of the vehicle to the hospital, Colorado Springs police said.

Megan Shook, 23, was driving a black Ford F-150 eastbound on Bijou Street shortly before 4 p.m. from Academy Boulevard and allegedly failed to veer left, ran off the road and hit a parked vehicle, police said.

Shook and two female passengers were not wearing their seat belts and were injured in the collision, police said. All three women, one of whom suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, were taken to a local hospital.

The car struck by the F-150 was pushed forward, setting up a chain of impacts with three other vehicles parked along the roadside.

Shook was under investigation on suspicion of driving under the influence, careless driving and vehicular assault, police said.

Bijou Street between Academy Boulevard and Coleridge Avenue was reopened shortly after 9 p.m.
