Hundreds of customers lost power and Rockrimmon Boulevard was closed between Tech Center and Delmonico drives for more than an hour while police responded to a fiery crash around 8 p.m. Wednesday, Colorado Springs police said.

Police said an empty dump truck that was parked in a nearby field rolled east until it hit a utility box at South Rockrimmon Boulevard and Tech Center Drive. Both the truck and utility burst into flames.

According to the Colorado Springs Utilities' electric outage map, more than 2,000 customers in the areas lost power.
