ENGLEWOOD – Denver Broncos safety Brian Dawkins played seven seasons with running back Brian Westbrook in Philadelphia.
Now that Westbrook is a free agent, and Denver is a suitor for his services, has Dawkins spoken to his former teammate?
“I’ve talked to him,” Dawkins said.
And has Dawkins tried recruiting him to come sign with the Broncos?
“We’ve talked,” Dawkins said with a sly smirk. “We’ve talked.”
Westbrook has 5,995 rushing yards and 37 rushing touchdowns in his eight-year career, and is well known for his receiving ability. He has 3,790 receiving yards in his career.
“He’s just one of those dynamic guys that at any given second, he’s going to be the reason you win the football game, because of his playmaking ability,” Dawkins said. “Out of the backfield, screen passes, and I think one of the things he doesn’t get enough credit for is his blitz pickup.”
Dawkins put his stamp of approval on a possible move to get Westbrook.
“He’s just one of those guys that can do so many different things for a team, for an offense, that if that did happen, it would add a whole lot to this team,” Dawkins said.
