Chad Hall, a 2008 Air Force graduate, was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday. According to the Associated Press, Hall received a three-year contract.

Hall, who is expected to compete for a spot as a return specialist, receiver and third-down back, had one of the best offensive seasons in Air Force history in 2007. The 2007 Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year, he was the only player in the country to lead his team in rushing yards (1,478), receiving yards (524 on 50 catches) and all-purpose yards (2,683), and he broke school records for rushing yards in a game and all-purpose yards in a game, season and career.

A Department of Defense policy allows Hall, who has been serving as a second lieutenant at Hill Air Force Base in Salt Lake City, to apply for excess leave or early release from active duty to pursue a professional sports career after serving two years of active duty.

According to the Eagles' Web site, Hall had a workout with the Eagles this week. Hall told the Web site he’s stronger and weighs more than he did two years ago.

“It's not like I've been taking a break or anything,” Hall said. “Besides the Air Force, which was my primary mission, after that my one goal, my one dream in life was to get back on the field and play in the NFL. … I've worked five, six days a week for the past two years.”
