Cheyenne Mountain High School students swept the top individual and regional awards in the recent 2010 Colorado High School Bridge Building Competition.

In the Region 2 competition, Max Vanatta won his second championship by building a basswood bridge that held 1,790 times its own weight. Teammates Adam Vasilakis and Mike Vail took second and third place, respectively.

Colorado is divided into two regions, north and south, and the first and second place winners from each region will advance to the international competition in Philadelphia in May.

The contest is sponsored by the Professional Engineers of Colorado, the American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
