A convenience store clerk was beaten during a robbery Tuesday evening at the Loaf N Jug at 3626 N. Chestnut St., Colorado Springs police said.

The clerk, whose name was not released by police, was tackled and punched several times in the face, police reported on the online blotter. He was treated at Penrose Main Hospital for cuts.

The clerk told police two men entered the store around 5:45 p.m. and asked for a lighter and cigarettes before one of them attacked him. The two men left the store on foot and were tracked by a police dog.

Jace Michael Todd, 21, was found in the 4300 block of North Chestnut Street and was arrested after being subdued with a stun gun. He faces charges of aggravated robbery, burglary, and first-degree criminal trespass. He also is wanted in Virginia on a federal warrant for escape.

Todd is being held in the El Paso County jail on a hold for U.S. marshals.

The other robber is still being sought.

Police Lt. Alan Scott did not know if the pair took anything from the store.
