ROCHESTER, N.Y. • The Rochester Institute of Technology scored three goals in the second period and held on for a 3-0 win over Air Force in an Atlantic Hockey Association game Saturday.

With the win, RIT improved to 20-11-1 and 20-5-1 in the AHA. The Tigers clinched the conference regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed in the tournament. Air Force fell to 12-14-6 and 12-8-6.

The Falcons are winless in their last six games (0-5-1).

Air Force started the third period with 61 seconds of power play and had five power-play minutes in the first nine minutes of the third period. However, the Falcons were unable to convert and neither team scored in the third period.

“I like the way we played in the first 10 minutes,” coach Frank Serratore said. “We came out with a lot of energy. I thought RIT was very good.

"They utilized five-man offense, moved the puck well and their power play was very good. They didn’t give us a lot of quality chances. We have to be better and we have to keep coming. We are in playoff mode right now. We played a real good team tonight and sometimes you have to give your opponent credit. I’m coaching the team’s confidence and spirit right now.”
