DENVER (AP) A climate adviser to Gov. Bill Ritter has agreed to resign from a left-leaning think tank that paid her $3,000 a month.
Alice Madden told The Denver Post she would stop taking payments from the Washington-based Center for American Progress. The newspaper's editorial board called Madden's side job a "clear conflict of interest."
Madden told the newspaper Thursday that she would resign from the think tank to avoid the appearance of a conflict.
Madden is a former Democratic state lawmaker who is now Ritter's climate change adviser. The side job was revealed last month when the governor ordered executive employees to file conflict-of-interest disclosure reports.
