5A state tournament first round
No. 8 Pine Creek 51, No. 9 Cherokee Trail 45
At Pine Creek: Sophomore Mattie Cutts led Pine Creek with 13 points and nine rebounds and Jayne Lydiatt chipped in 12 points for the Eagles (11-13).
The keys for Pine Creek were strong second and fourth quarters, in which it outscored Cherokee Trail 31-23.
The Eagles will travel to No. 1 Highlands Ranch (19-4) on Friday night.
No. 6 Doherty 67, No. 11 Columbine 20
At Doherty: The Spartans will travel to No. 3 Horizon (16-7) on Friday night for a second-round matchup.
No. 8 Smoky Hill 49, No. 9 Liberty 41
At Smoky Hill: Sarah Milafsky led Smoky Hill with 24 points, including five 3-pointers, and Brooke Zimmerman added 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Buffaloes (10-14).
No stats were provided for Liberty (11-13).
4A state tournament first round
No. 7 Erie 42, No. 10 Widefield 40
At Erie: In a back-and-forth game in which each quarter was decided by two points or fewer, Erie (14-10) hung on behind 18 points from Serena Gudino to advance to the second round.
No. 8 Glenwood Springs 52, No. 9 Harrison 42
At Glenwood Springs: A tough fourth quarter doomed Harrison (13-11), as the teams were tied at the half and Glenwood Springs held a 34-32 lead after three quarters.
Madi Spence did most of the damage for Glenwood Springs (14-8), scoring 20 points and adding nine rebounds.
No. 8 Evergreen 39, No. 9 Discovery Canyon 34
At Evergreen: After falling behind 15-10 at the half, Discovery Canyon (10-14) rallied with a 16-12 third quarter to cut the deficit to 27-26 but couldn’t complete the comeback.
No. 5 Mullen 70, No. 12 Coronado 24
At Mullen: Mullen (11-13) put four girls into double-figure scoring, led by Jessica Sienkiewicz’s 20 points.
Coronado (8-16) trailed 38-11 at the half and 55-13 after three quarters.

3A Tri-Peaks League district quarterfinals
Manitou Springs 38, Ellicott 33
At Manitou Springs: Meghan McGee led all scorers with 14 points and Ali Thompson added 11 for the Mustangs (13-7).
Manitou Springs trailed 19-16 at the half before using a 10-3 third quarter to take command.
The Mustangs will face Trinidad in the semifinals on Friday night, which will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.
Dakota Dornbrack was the only player in double figures for Ellicott (10-11) with 11 points.
St. Mary’s 41, TCA 31
At TCA: The Pirates will play Lamar in the semifinals on Friday night at Pueblo Central. St. Mary’s (17-4) lost both matchups with the Savages (18-2) during the regular season.
2A District 8 quarterfinals
Kiowa 57, Pikes Peak Christian 40
At Kiowa: Caleb Smith and Jordan Gabehart each had 11 points for Kiowa (13-7), which led from start-to-finish after a 19-11 first quarter.
Jacob Bruner led PPC with 24 points, including four 3-pointers, and Mark Waters added nine points for the Eagles (10-10).
