Area psychics share visions for America

December 26, 2008

The world economy is unraveling. America is in the crosshairs of terrorist organizations.

People are losing their jobs right and left.

Sure would be nice to see how things turn out.

With all the challenges facing the world, radio and TV pundits have been in overdrive, doing their best to predict what might happen in 2009.

But there's another group making predictions: psychics.

We asked five area psychics to gaze into the future to see what might happen in 2009 on a national and global scale. They saw many things, from fires to terrorist attacks to religious tolerance to the beginning of a new age. What follows are edited excerpts of their responses. We'll check back next year to see how they did.

Materialism will decline

Psychic: Suzanne Brown

Residence: Colorado Springs

Background: Graduate in 2003 of the clairvoyant program at Psychic Horizons Center in Boulder, and a reverend at Boulder's Church of Inner Light. Operates clairvoyant business called Renewing Spirit.

Question: What will be the state of the American economy in 2009?

Answer: The recession will bottom out on Oct. 22, 2009. During February 2010, nearly all of us will believe we are coming out of the recession.

Q: What will be Barack Obama's greatest accomplishment in 2009?

A: His greatest accomplishment will be how he gathers, organizes and nurtures our leadership community with a tough-love feel.

Q: What will be Obama's greatest setback?

A: That we will still be at war in Afghanistan in four years and still have a military presence in Iraq.

Q: What will be the most surprising occurrence in America?

A: All this wanting and having to have it all the time hasn't turned out to be such a great way to live, learn and love ourselves. The most surprising occurrence in America is that we will finally get it and readjust our priorities, and make choices about where to invest our time, love and money.

Cooperation in Washington

Psychic: Athene Raefiel

Residence: Colorado Springs

Background: Raefiel has been a psychic, healer and spiritual counselor for years.

Q: What will the recession be like in 2009?

A: We are in a depression, not a recession. It will last two or three years.

Q: What will be Obama's greatest accomplishment in 2009?

A: A restructuring of Washington at the highest level. There will be more cooperation in Washington, but his greatest accomplishment will be international cooperation. We will get Russia back as an ally.

Q: Will there be a terrorist attack on American soil?

A: No, but I see natural disasters. Fires in California. Tornadoes in the South. Flooding (from a tsunami) in Indonesia.

Q: What will happen globally?

A: The Middle East will come together this year (and not be so divided by sectarian differences). There will be more unity for those who truly want the purity of their religion.

School terrorist attack

Psychic: Gerald D. Ochs, "the Gifted Cowboy"

Q: How long will the recession last?

A: 13 to 17 months.

Q: What will be Obama's greatest accomplishment in 2009?

A: He will bring most of the troops home.

Q: Will there be a terrorist attack on American soil in 2009?

A: Yes; they will do it possibly in a school.

More faith in America

Psychic: Mariea McGill

Residence: Manitou Springs

Background: Psychic reader since 2003

Q: How long will the recession last?

A: No more than one year.

Q: How will Obama do in 2009?

A: He leaves a footprint upon the earth. He will make a huge impact comparable to Lincoln's. But someone close to him will create disruption he didn't expect. A Judas will betray him, but that won't happen for about two years.

Q: Most surprising occurrence in America in 2009?

A: People will learn to live with less and have more faith.

Kudos to Obama

Psychic: The Eagle Mystic

Residence: Pueblo

Background: Psychic reader for four years.

Q: How long will the recession last?

A: At least through end of summer or early fall.

Q: What will be Obama's greatest triumph in 2009?

A: The advancement of peace worldwide and the return of this country's stature in the eyes of the world. Another great accomplishment will be a great technological effort made to go green, emphasized in the petroleum-reduction task that the administration will launch.

Q: Greatest setback?

A: There will be a power struggle. The administration must be aware of secret enemies, but goodwill will prevail.

Q: Will there be a terrorist attack in America in 2009?

A: Yes, and it will involve a people-mover such as a train, subway or tram. And it very likely will be in a resort destination like Las Vegas, where we go out of the way to make all things convenient for the visitors but do not have increased security. It will be embarrassing to us how easy this happens.

Q: What will be the most surprising occurrence in America?

A: This administration will be given the opportunity to provide leadership and the time to allow that leadership to be proven. The surprise will be viewed historically - that such a young administration will be given credence that is usually only gained after time in office.
