Manager shot after purse snatching at Platte Wal-Mart
Police were looking Sunday for a man who shot a Wal-Mart store manager after a purse snatching Saturday night. The manager, Kevin Farley, 30, was shot in the hip and back and underwent surgery at Memorial Hospital, police said. He was listed in critical condition Sunday night, the hospital said. The incident began when two men and a woman entered the Wal-Mart store at 3201 E. Platte Ave. about 9:30 p.m. The woman stole a purse from someone’s shopping cart, police said. Store employees confronted the three as they tried to leave and detained one of the men, police said. The other man pulled a handgun and fired three times at the employees, hitting Farley, police said. The gunman and the woman drove away, but the other man was detained. Police arrested Eric Riedenour, 18, on suspicion of attempted murder and felony theft. He was taken to the Criminal Justice Center. Authorities have identified the other two suspects and have a descrip- tion of the car, but they declined to release that information Sunday night. The same store was the scene of a fatal shooting last year. Jerry Delfina Rosas has pleaded not guilty to killing ReShaun Kurstin Jones, 18, in the store after Rosas got into an altercation with Jones’ cousin June 12.
