A semi rolled off eastbound I-70 and plummeted 150 feet down a ravine, killing the driver.
The truck had been traveling west near Vail Pass, but crossed over into the eastbound lanes before disappearing over the side of the mountain, according to Colorado State Patrol.
Vail pass was closed from 5:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
The crash caused a small forest fire, according to Colorado department of Transportation. The fire was out by late Thursday evening.
The deceased drive was identified only as a 64-year-old man from California.
