Gold Camp Elementary School was selected by USA Basketball to host the nonprofit's Open Court Program.
Starting Sept. 18, kids of all ability levels can participate in free weekly sessions at the Colorado Springs school located at 1805 Preserve Dr.
"USA Basketball is very excited to host an Open Court program in our hometown of Colorado Springs at Gold Camp Elementary School," said USA Basketball CEO Jim Tooley. "The Open Court program is important to us, because it gives children a free place to play basketball under the guidance of USA Basketball licensed coaches and with an emphasis on a safe and fun experience for all of the participants."
The program is set to run for 12 weeks, ending Dec. 8. Games and drills will be run by USA Basketball licensed coaches, according to a release.
Participants can earn points for attendance, bringing friends and posting on social media about the program. Points can be exchanged for prizes from USA Basketball Youth Development and Nike.
The program runs from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Monday is for kids ages 6 to 9 with the 10 to 12 age group getting Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday is open for 13- to 17-year-olds. A waiver signed by a parent or guardian is needed before kids participate. Waivers are available at the school.
