A robber walked behind the counter of a East Platte Avenue gas station and convenience store early Saturday, tackled the clerk, then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Colorado Springs police said.

No arrests have been announced in the robbery of the Western Convenience store in the 2500 block of East Platte Avenue.

The robber was described as a heavy set Hispanic male, 20-30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet. He was wearing a yellow and black baseball cap, a torn white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Officers, who were notified of a robbery in progress around 3:50 a.m., searched the area with police dogs but were unable to locate the robber.
