Daniel Thrower thought a predator might be lurking at Rockledge Ranch when he began noticing stray chicken feathers while hiking in the area.

He believes he’s seen his furry friend several times before, when the animal was chasing rabbits and looking down from the ridge above the ranch.

But on Tuesday morning, when he spotted the bobcat near Camp Creek, he was able to capture a quick video using his cell phone.

“This is the first close look I’ve gotten,” said Thrower, 38, who lives in Pleasant Valley and visits the area often. “Usually it’s quick enough that I don’t get a good shot.”

The nearly minute-long video offers a good view of the cat before he — or she — scampers off.
