Grab your lightsaber, the Colorado Springs Comic and Toy Con is back. The biannual show, now in its sixth cycle, offers would be Jedis and Vulcans a chance to congregate and hawk their wares. The most recent local Con, held in October, drew 3,000 patrons.
This spring’s con will host more than 100 tables filled with toys, memorabilia and comic books. Vendors from all over Colorado, as well as from Nebraska, Kansas and New Mexico, will have toys, comic books and art for sale.
“This convention is all about fun and is done for the love of the hobby,” said con founder Clint Randolph. “With so many things in life nowadays being comic based, comics are not only becoming a hobby it's making its way into our culture. People want superheroes to exist. I cannot bring you real life superheroes but I can try to help you believe in them at this con. Hope to see you there.”
Adding to the excitement will be the 501st Legion, a well-known group of “Star Wars” aficionados who dress up as Stormtroopers, Biker Scouts, and Tusken Raiders and pose for pictures with visitors. A costume contest will be held Saturday and board gaming events are open to all both days.
