Your lawn watering guide: Restrictions sprout in Pikes Peak region

MATT STEINER Updated: April 5, 2013 at 12:00 am

Drought conditions in the Pikes Peak region forced the Colorado Springs City Council to adopt water restrictions Tuesday limiting residents to watering lawns just two days per week.

Colorado Springs is not the only municipality in the area encouraging residents to jump on the conservation bandwagon.

Woodland Park began restrictions Tuesday, and Monument has put a plan in place that will force townspeople to limit consumption beginning in May. Manitou Springs and Fountain have issued “voluntary” restriction orders. Cripple Creek has not yet made a decision whether to limit water use.

The Cherokee Metropolitan District has followed Colorado Springs with a two-day-per-week initiative. Water restriction plans, Page 10
