Drought conditions in the Pikes Peak region forced the Colorado Springs City Council to adopt water restrictions on Tuesday limiting residents to watering lawns just two days per week.

Colorado Springs is not the only municipality in the area encouraging residents to jump on the conservation bandwagon.

Woodland Park began restrictions Tuesday and Monument has put a plan in place that will force townspeople to limit their consumption beginning in May. Manitou Springs and Fountain have issued “voluntary” restriction orders. Cripple Creek has not yet made a decision whether to limit water use.
