OneRepublic, a pop rock band from Colorado Springs, will perform their latest single, "If I Lose Myself," at 8 p.m. Thursday on "American Idol." Season five runner-up Katharine McPhee will sing with the band.

Musicians Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins met during their senior year at the Colorado Springs Christian School, and formed what would become OneRepublic in 1996. The band played several gigs at local coffeshops, like Pikes Perk Coffee and Tea House, and then parted ways after heading to college.

They reunited in 2002, relocated to L.A. and mucked around in the musical trenches for five years. Their star rose in 2007 when their single "Apologize" became a hugely popular digital download. They were nominated for a Grammy in 2009 for the single "Apologize."

Their third album, "Native," was released this week.
