The Fort Carson soldier who allegedly killed a female soldier at the Crowne Plaza Hotel will be in court Friday for an advisement hearing.

Montrell Mayo, 24, waived extradition and was transported to Colorado Springs Thursday, said Lee Richards, spokeswoman for the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

He was being held in the Pitt County jail in North Carolina on suspicion of first degree murder.

The Army sergeant is accused of strangling to death his girlfriend, Cpl. Kimberly Walker, on Valentines Day. Walker, stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, was visiting Mayo, according to the arrest affidavit.
