Several lanes of southbound Interstate 25 near the Fillmore exit were blocked after a three-car wreck Thursday morning.

Vehicles were cleared shortly after 11 a.m. and all lanes are now open.

Colorado Springs police officer Tom Stevens said that the first vehicle, a truck, braked hard to avoid a bale of insulation on the highway, causing the chain reaction that sent the drivers of the three cars involved to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Stevens said the driver of the vehicle that spilled the insulation would be cited for carrying an unsecured load
