Colorado Springs police officer Tom Stevens said that the first vehicle, a truck, braked hard to avoid a bale of insulation on the highway, causing the chain reaction that sent the drivers of the three cars involved to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Stevens said the driver of the vehicle that spilled the insulation would be cited for carrying an unsecured load. Photo by MARK REIS, THE GAZETTE
