An Air Force Academy cadet was found dead Saturday night in the cadet area on the campus north of Colorado Springs.

According to officials, academy personnel found Cadet 4th Class James L. Walsh and unsuccessfully tried to revive him.

Walsh, a 2008 graduate of Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park, Ill., came to the Air Force Academy Prep School in 2011. He previously served 2 1/2 years in the Air Force as a cyber transportation systems apprentice at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, academy officials said.

The cause of Walsh's death is under investigation.
