Discovery Canyon 42, Lewis-Palmer 14

At Lewis-Palmer: After an 80-yard run from Lewis-Palmer running back Matt Brines tied the game at 7, Discovery Canyon (6-1, 1-0 3A South Central) scored the next 35 points to pull away.

Alec Wirtjes scored on runs of 1, 6 and 3 yards for the Thunder, who scored six of their seven touchdowns on running plays.

Michael Beiswenger opened the scoring for Discovery Canyon on a 27-yard fumble return.

Lewis-Palmer (2-5, 0-1) got a fourth-quarter touchdown from Nick Christenson.

Ponderosa 26, Liberty 10

At District 20 Stadium: Three touchdowns by Ponderosa's Dylan Spradling, including two receptions from Nick Wilson, was too much for Liberty (1-5, 0-3 4A Pikes Peak).

The Lancers scored a fourth-quarter defensive touchdown against Ponderosa (4-2, 3-0).

Palmer Ridge 17, Cheyenne Mountain 14

At Cheyenne Mountain: Palmer Ridge (2-4, 1-2 3A South Central) returned a third-quarter interception for a touchdown and scored one play after recovering a fumble to dig out of a 14-3 halftime hole.

Another turnover late in the fourth quarter doomed Cheyenne Mountain's (1-5, 0-3) comeback bid.

"We had an opportunity at the end of the game and finished with a turnover as well," Cheyenne Mountain coach Willie Roberts said. "That's what sealed our fate. (Turnovers) can help you, but they can also work against you."

Roberts was proud of his team’s effort this season, even though the results have not been there.
“These guys have worked really, really hard, and it stinks to see them work so hard and not be able to cash it in with a victory,” he said.

The Classical Academy 42, Harrison 14

At The Classical Academy: Andrew Register rushed for 90 yards and scored on touchdown runs of 12, 5 and 1 yard to propel The Classical Academy (4-2, 1-0 3A Southern).

Darius Graves returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter to cut TCA's lead to 10-6, and Demetrius Graves capped the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 50-yard run to lead Harrison (1-5, 0-1).

Woodland Park 34, The Academy 0

At Woodland Park: Josh Smith (147 yards), Weston Shutts (105) and Dylan Schaller-Ward each ran for more than 100 yards to lead Woodland Park (4-2).

The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for The Academy (2-4).

La Junta 38, St. Mary's 7

At St. Mary's: St. Mary's (0-6, 0-4 2A Tri-Peaks) trailed 14-7 after the first quarter, but could not keep the game close.
