A man who may have robbed two banks and four businesses in Colorado Springs was arrested Wednesday night, Colorado Springs police said.

Roy Schmadeka, 45, was taken into custody at 7 p.m. A search of his home at 7200 Julynn Rd. uncovered “a large sum of U.S. currency,” police said.

Schmadeka is suspected of robbing Academy Bank on January 18, Mountain View Bank on January 29 and four other businesses: The Cellar Liquor Store, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Express and Circle K.

The investigation is ongoing.
