The Financial Planning Association of Colorado will offer free private consultations in person or by phone from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 5 as part of its annual Colorado Financial Planning Day.

In-person meetings will take place at the Metropolitan State University Auraria Campus Administration Building, 1201 5th Street, Denver. Registration is requested, but not required, by going online to Bring financial, insurance and other relevant documents.

For one-on-one phone consultations, call 1-855-511-2233 during the event hours. Calls will be taken as received.

"Well have a few planners that day, so we hope people won't get busy signals," said association spokesman Keith Renninson.

Part of the day's events include free classes on 10 financial management topics, such as budgeting, credit scores, saving for college, investments and retirement. Classes will take place at the Auraria campus, but will be available for viewing online as live feeds or, later, as archived files. To view live, go to during event hours to log into the webinars.

This is the fourth year the organization has offered its services for Colorado Financial Planning Day, and each year, the event draws more people, Renninson said. Last year, about 300 people attended, showing up from not only the Denver metro area, but as far away as Pueblo and Sterling, he said.
