Breakdown: Pine Creek knocked off Fountain-Fort Carson and heads to Lakewood on Thursday for the second of three straight 5A opponents. Doherty rolled past Liberty but gets a stern test Thursday at home against Eaglecrest, a 5A quarterfinalist last season.  … Speaking of good matchups on Thursday, 4A gives us Falcon at Pueblo South, where the high-flying Falcons play a Colts team that allowed just seven points to Ponderosa, last season’s 4A Pikes Peak League champion. On Friday, 2012 4A semifinalist Pueblo West visits District 20 Stadium to meet Rampart, which rolled up 453 total yards against Canon City on Saturday. … Discovery Canyon continues to roll, while not many can remember the last time Coronado started a season 2-0. Not listed is Woodland Park, which shoots for its first 2-0 start since 2006 at home Friday against 0-1 Liberty. … Florence on Friday plays host to reigning 2A state champion Kent Denver, which eliminated the Huskies from last year’s playoffs in the semifinals.
