Political observers say Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has a wealth of Democrats to chose from should his lieutenant governor resign to head a federal agency.
"They really do have a deep bench of talent," said Republican Mike Beasley, a longtime Capitol lobbyist.
"The governor's got a plethora of good people to choose from," echoed House Speaker Mark Ferrandino, D-Denver.
Reuters reported Thursday that Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia is a leading candidate to become secretary of the Department of Labor, but there is no word on when a decision will be made.
