Colorado Springs finally got on the board to tie the game in the ninth inning, but host New Orleans won it with a two-run homer by Jake Smolinski in the bottom of the ninth in a 4-2 victory Tuesday in New Orleans.

The Sky Sox tied it at 2-2 in the top of the ninth of Reid Brignac's two-run homer, part of a 3-for-4 night.

Kevin Kouzmanoff was 3 for 3 for the Marlins, with one run scored. Each team had six hits and each had one player with half of its hits.

Sky Sox starter Chris Volstad went six innings, allowing two earned runs.

New Orleans scored in the first and the third and that was it until the active ninth inning.

Brignac connected with the Sky Sox down to their last out in the top of the ninth.

Smolinski didn't wait quite so long to end the game. He hit the winning blow with no outs.

Colorado Springs traveled after Sunday's game was rained out, in part due to its travel schedule.
