Colorado Springs police have arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of sexually assaulting three children over the last six years.

William "Bill" Whiting is facing "several counts" of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, Colorado Springs police said.

"Detectives are concerned that there may be additional victims. As such, this remains an open and on-going investigation," police said in a news release.

Colorado Springs police and the Crimes Against Children Unit began the investigation June 25. Police did not indicate what prompted the investigation.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at 444-7000 or Pikes Peak Area Crime Stoppers at 634-7867. Callers do not have to give their name and could earn a cash reward, police said.
