Police say they arrested a drunken man who was spotted dangling a toddler from a third floor balcony Friday.

Officer were called to an apartment complex on the 3900 block of East Bijou Street after neighbors reported that three children were in the care of a “very intoxicated” man.

Police say they arrived to find Mario Flores, 28, in an apartment with three kids and another adult who was caring for the children.

As they were leaving, officers witnessed Flores dangling a 3-year-old boy over the third floor balcony railing. Police yelled at the man and then raced underneath the boy in a bid to catch him if he fell. Two officers ran to the third floor balcony, and Flores pulled the child back, police said.

Flores was arrested on investigation of child abuse and reckless endangerment.

The children were returned to their mother unharmed, police said.
