"The Drowsy Chaperone"

Three words: Get tickets now. From the moment a voice speaks in the dark before the curtain rises, the Fine Arts Center's production of this hit Broadway musical is a winner: Unexpected, charming and even sweetly intimate. Not exactly what you'd anticipate for a send up of 1920s musicals. But this is a musical within a play: The Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers style singing-dancing extravaganza is balanced by a present day character, who is fanboy and critic, observer and participant. And over the course of the play, his funny observations about the action - which he controls by lifting a needle from the cast recording - become more than just arch commentary. It slowly reveals this man and the life he leads. Read the complete review at "The Drowsy Chaperone" runs through June 2 at 30 W. Dale St. Details: 634-5583,
