Territory Days

Before there was Colorado Springs, there was Colorado City, a wild West town whose fortunes rose and fell with the "Pikes Peak or Bust" gold rush. The brothels are gone, but you can experience the saloons and shops of Old Colorado City at its trademark festival May 25-27. Enjoy music, food, crafts, gold panning, gunfight re-enactments and more. visitcos.com/territory-days

Bolder Boulder

One of the larger races in the world is held in Boulder each Memorial Day, with more than 50,000 runners. Enjoy the rush as you cross the finish line of this 10K at Folsom Field, the football venue on the University of Colorado campus. Cheer on fellow runners and enjoy the post-race refreshments. Stick around for a fun day of activities. bolderboulder.com

Mountainfilm in Telluride

No, it's not the big southwest Colorado festival that attracts Hollywood stars and glitterati, but cinefiles still will have a great time at the smaller festival. Along with showings of independent documentary films from around the world, there are art and photography exhibits and early morning coffee talks. And the scenery isn't bad, either. mountainfilm.org
