Colorado Springs police have arrested a second man in connection with the slaying of a Fort Carson soldier and his wife.
Jerel Couch, 19, was arrested on suspicion of accessory to first-degree murder, and harboring a fugitive. He was arrested on Thursday night, along with 17-year-old Macyo January, who faces first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of 37-year-old David Dunlap and his wife, 35-year-old Whitney Butler.
Dunlap and Butler, who was pregnant, were shot and killed on Monday afternoon when they surprised a burglar in their home, police said. On Wednesday police identified January as the primary suspect in the killings.
Two other men and a juvenile also were arrested Thursday night on outstanding warrants not connection to the homicide, police said. They are 21-year-old Eric Wilson, 24-year-old Christopher Cobb, and an unidentified 17-year-old, according to police.
