A storm aiming for Colorado Springs is expected to drop snow on the region starting Christmas Eve and stick around through Christmas morning.

The National Weather Service issued a statement Saturday morning saying some of the high country could see more than a foot of snow from the storm.

In Colorado Springs and other towns in the Pikes Peak region, light to moderate snow was being predicted Saturday.

That could increase if the storm continues to gain strength, forecasters said.

Ahead of the storm, the Weather Service warned holiday travelers to hit the road early. Driving conditions through most of Colorado will be difficult when the storm rolls in Monday.

If you’re a fan of snow, you’re in luck. After the Christmas storm clears out, another system is aiming to hit the region Thursday.
