A 28-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday night after 2-year-old Essence Lavato was found safe, Colorado Springs police said.

Tonia Shetina was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping and vehicle theft after Essence was found by police investigators at Shetina's home in Fountain just after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police had received a tip based on an Amber Alert issued Wednesday morning by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Essence was seen with Shetina on Monday night near downtown Colorado Springs and the woman was considered a person of interest when the girl was reported missing.

Shetina is being held in the El Paso County jail. Bail has been set at $200,000. Her first appearance in court will be Jan. 3, 2013.
