JEFFERSON COUNTY — In a scenario that he says is becoming all too familiar, Columbine High School principal Frank DeAngelis offered his condolences Friday to the families of the victims killed during a school shooting in Connecticut.

A gunman, who later killed himself, shot and killed 26 people inside Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

DeAngelis saw parallels to the aftermath of the April 20, 1999, shooting at Columbine High School, which killed 12 students and one teacher. The two gunmen shot themselves.

DeAngelis, who is often sought out following such acts of violence, said he received a phone call from a reporter in New York on Friday morning.

"They asked, 'When will it get back to normal?' " DeAngelis said. "It is never going to get back to normal."
