Arts programs in Colorado Springs School District 11 received a boost Wednesday Dec. 12 night.
The Rotary Club of Colorado Springs presented $35,000 to the district at the regular school board meeting. The funds came from the Butterflies and Friends event the Rotary Club handled over the summer.
It the fifth year the district has benefited from the art-focused event, as local artists including art teachers, decorated large pieces. It's the first year that so many schools will share in the money, Superintendent Nicholas Gledich said.
This year's recipients: Audubon Elementary, Grant Elementary, Hunt Elementary, West Middle and Tesla Educational Opportunity Center.
