The El Paso County Coroner's Office on Friday identified the 19-year-old killed in a Thursday morning head-on collision on Interstate 25 as Mathou Valenciano of Colorado Springs.

According to Trooper Josh Lewis of the Colorado State Patrol, Valenciano was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry north in the southbound lanes of I-25 at about 4:30 a.m. when the car slammed into an oncoming FedEx truck.

The crash, which happened near the Ray Nixon Road exit, blocked southbound I-25 south of Fountain for about six hours, Lewis said.

Valenciano, who was not wearing a seat belt, was declared dead at the scene.

The FedEx driver, 49-year-old Steven Hall of Pueblo, was not injured. He will not be cited, according to the state patrol.
