DENVER  — Kaiser Permanente says it’s hiring 500 people at a new information technology campus it is opening in the south Denver suburbs.

The health-care provider announced Thursday that the campus is opening in January in Englewood and that the company has begun recruiting and hiring. The company has 6,000 employees in Colorado.

Colorado Kaiser Permanent President Donna Lynne says the campus will allow the company to expand its technical infrastructure. Kaiser currently has about 200 IT employees in the state.

Gov. John Hickenlooper praised the announcement and noted that the state is an attractive place for young people to move to. He says the challenge is creating more jobs so they can stay in the state.
