Colorado Springs police say a tip led them to a wanted man early Sunday and a zap from an officer’s Taser put the man behind bars.

Police say they were called to a tavern on the 500 block of South Circle Drive just after 1:30 a.m. where they were told they could find 22-year-old Daniel Martinez, who was sought on a warrant for escape.

Officers say they arrived to find Martinez slipping out of the bar and into the night.

An officer yelled for Martinez to stop, and pulled his Taser, a stun weapon, when the wanted man fled, police said in a news release.

A hit from the Taser stopped Martinez, police said.

Martinez was arrested and held in the El Paso County jail.
