A Colorado Springs woman died in a single-vehicle crash near Walsenburg on Friday evening, the Colorado State Patrol said. Three others in the SUV were seriously injured.
The 2000 Dodge Durango was traveling southbound on Interstate 25 around 6 p.m. Friday when the tread separated from the left rear tire. The driver subsequently lost control and the vehicle spun off the west side of the roadway, troopers said.
The Durango rolled multiple times until it stopped on its roof, troopers said.
All occupants were ejected during the roll, and initial investigation indicates no seatbelts were worn, troopers said.
Bernadette Scott, 33, of Colorado Springs died at the scene, according to the Huerfano County Coroner.
Breanna Ortiz, Viktoria Flores and Tawnya Schaus, all 20-year-olds, were taken to hospitals.
