NOTHING’S GONNA STOP THEM NOW: There’s an identified flying object landing at the City Auditorium just in time for New Year’s. Jefferson Starship, the keepers of the song “We Built This City,” perform along with openers Radio London, QuickSilver Messenger Service and Tom Constanten.

CLASSY END TO THE YEAR: The Colorado Springs Philharmonic presents a concert of big band, jazz and Broadway music, with vocalist Amy Sue Hardy, Chris Lawson on trumpet and Paul Nagem on flute. It’s at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Pikes Peak Center, 190 S. Cascade Ave. Tickets are $12-$50; 520-7469. FOR THE KIDS: The Manitou Springs New Year’s Eve Extravaganza includes five hours of family shows by the Mantiou Art Theater, “Cirkoo,” with Jim Jackson and Birgitta DePree at 4 and 7 p.m., the magic and puppetry of Doc Murdoch at 5:30 p.m., musician Eddie Coker at 8:30 p.m. and fire dancing shows at 5, 6:30 and 8 p.m. It’s all at the Business of Art Center’s Venue 515, 515 Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs. NEW YEAR’S PARTY: If you hit up Maxi’s at the Doubletree Hotel World Arena on New Years Eve, you’ll hear hits from the 1980s to today, eat hors d’ oeuvres, drink complimentary cocktails, enjoy a chamapage toast and dance. It begins at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at 1775 E. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. Admission is $50 single/$90 double; 576-8900. FUNNY GIRL: Kristin Key, of the late reality show “Last Comic Standing,” is the headliner for a New Year’s Eve party at Loonees Comedy Corner. The $30-$60 admission includes a salsa and taco bar, party favors, balloon drop and champagne toast. Times are 7:45 and 10:15 p.m. Sunday at 1305 N. Academy Blvd.; 591-0707. HORTON HEARS A WHAT?: Rockabilly band with a sense of humor Reverend Horton Heatwill perform at The Black Sheep at 8 p.m. Saturday. The Railbenders open up at 2106 E. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANK: Rocker Frank Zappa will be honored at a tribute concert featuring perfomers Alan Joseph, Holly Holverson, Randy Bowen, Ian Hutchison, Glen Whitehead, Dwight Bement, Conrad Kehn and others. The show was originally scheduled for Dec. 21. It’s at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Cedars Jazz Club, 3125 Sinton Road. Tickets are $5; 578-5744. OPERA AT THE MOVIES: The Metropolitan Opera presents “The Magic Flute” via satellite HD at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. It’s at Tinseltown, 1545 E.
