Biden mocks Romney's debate performance

GREELEY — Vice President Joe Biden urged Coloradans on Wednesday to take advantage of early voting and not wait until Election Day.

"Let's take this thing sooner rather than later," Biden told a crowd at the Island Grove Exhibit Hall in Greeley, one day after the second presidential debate.

President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney are hotly contesting Colorado. The state began issuing mail-in ballots on Monday, and early voting at polling places begins Oct. 22. Election Day is Nov. 6.

Biden said Romney gave few details during Tuesday's debate on what he would do as president. He accused Romney of being in a "time warp" on women's issues and mocked Romney's comment about finding "binders full of women."

"He started talking about binders. Whoa," Biden said. "The idea he had to go and ask where a qualified woman was. He just should have come to my house. He didn't need a binder."

Romney was answering a question on gender pay equity and explaining how he recruited women to his administration as governor of Massachusetts. Romney said he went to "a number of women's groups and said, 'Can you help us find folks?' And they brought us whole binders full of women."

Biden also assailed Romney's vow to dismantle the federal health care law if elected, The Greeley Tribune reported.

"On women's health, they want to turn power back to the insurance company," he said. "For good measure, Romney said on multiple accounts, he wants to get rid of Planned Parenthood. What I can't understand is how he has gotten in this 1950s time warp."

Biden was visiting Nevada, another competitive state, later Wednesday.
