Police have posted a 24-hour guard outside the hospital room of a suspected drunken driver after a Saturday evening crash.

Police say the man was at the wheel of a Saturn Sedan that rolled off westbound Highway 24 just before 6 p.m. The driver, identified as Octavio Ramirez-Munoz, and a passenger were “partially ejected” and injured in the wreck.

The two were hospitalized for injuries. The injuries of the passenger were considered serious.

Police said Ramirez-Munoz had been drinking before the crash and could face charges including vehicular assault.

The guards at the hospital are in place to ensure Ramirez-Munoz doesn’t go anywhere while he’s being treated and to arrest him once he’s released, police said.
