Alcohol, drug arrests up at University of Colorado

BOULDER — Alcohol and drug arrests are on the rise at the University of Colorado, where police are citing increased enforcement.

Arrests and citations for alcohol went from 710 in 2010 to nearly 770 in 2011. More than half occurred in campus housing.

Drug arrests and summonses went up from more than 350 in 2010 to nearly 450 in 2011.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera (http://tinyurl.com/8ba7gan ), campus police are trying hold students more accountable for their actions, beginning with the day they enter college.
