Masked robber gets away with smokes, cash

A masked man pulled a pistol inside a Colorado Springs convenience store before making off with tobacco and cash, Colorado Springs police said.

Officers were called to the 7-Eleven store at 1760 Shasta Drive just after 5 a.m. after a clerk called in the robbery. Workers at the store said the robber work a heavy black coat and the mask and brandished the gun while making his demands.

The robber got out of the store with an undisclosed amount of money and two cartons -- that’s 20 packs – of cigarettes. The retail value of the cigarettes could easily top $100.

Police searched the area after the robbery but didn’t find the crook.
