PHOENIX — Troy Tulowitzki will continue playing in Arizona during the final week of the season, but it won't be with the Rockies.
The two-time all-star shortstop hit a home run and played six innings in an instructional league game Monday. He received multiple chances defensively, and even though he failed to make a backhanded play, his surgically repaired left groin held up, marking another positive step in his recovery.
"It went well," Tulowitzki said.
Tulowitzki is playing in another instructional league game Tuesday afternoon.
Tulowitzki had hoped to rejoin the Rockies in mid-September but was unable to clear mental and physical hurdles during rehab games in Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Colorado Springs.
There are no plans for him to plan in the major leagues Tuesday or Wednesday.
