A 27-year-old woman was issued a court summons Wednesday for her role in a crash in southwest Colorado Springs last week that killed motorcyclist Kevin Michael Marinec, Colorado Springs police said Thursday.

Rebecca Bedoya could face a charge of careless driving resulting in a death, police said. Her first court date is on Nov. 7.

Bedoya's white Chevrolet was allegedly traveling east on Lake Avenue on Sept. 20 when she turned left toward  northbound Cheyenne Boulevard, police said. Her car crossed in front of Marinec, 25, as he rode his motorcycle through the intersection. The light was green for both drivers, but there was no green left turn arrow, police said.

Marinec was thrown from the bike and died at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries, according to the El Paso County Coroner's Office.
