Wasson High School teacher Theresa James received the 2012 Distinguished Teacher award from the National Council for Geographic Education.

The award is given for excellence in teaching and leadership at the K-12 level. Colorado Springs School District 11 announced the honor on Tuesday Aug. 14.



James will be honored during the NCGE annual Conference on Geographic Education in Texas in early October.

The National Council for Geographic Education was chartered in 1915 to enhance the status and quality of geography teaching and learning at all levels of instruction. Through its annual awards program, the NCGE recognizes excellence in geography teaching, mentoring, research, instructional design and service
