Colorado Springs came back from a three-run deficit only to lose in the bottom of the ninth inning, 6-5 to the host Salt Lake City Bees on Friday night.
Jorge De La Rosa had a rehabilitation start for the Sky Sox, lasting 3â…“ innings, giving up five hits and four earned runs while striking out three and walking one. Stephen Dodson took the loss.
Tommy Field had two hits and two RBIs for the Sky Sox, who got two hits by Andrew Brown and two RBIs by Wilkin Castillo. The Sky Sox had four RBIs with two out. They scored four runs in the sixth to grab a 5-4 lead but it didn’t last.
Salt Lake scored in the bottom of the sixth to tie it and won in the ninth when Doug Deeds hit a leadoff single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt and two walks — one intentional — before Hank Conger lined him in to end the game.
Three Salt Lake players had two hits out of their 11. Colorado Springs had 10 hits total.
